this is a search and destroy patch for the napster client for windows.

napster is a popular program which is capable of letting you share your
mp3 collection with other users on the internet. when beta 6 was released,
there were a few problems that kept coming up regarding wrapster files
and other select mp3s. beta 6 employs a new mp3 detection algorithm, one
which checks for actual frames inside of a file that has an mp3 header.
since wrapster uses only an mp3 header to disguise your files, it doesn't
fool beta 6's new verification routine.

this patch allows you to share wrapster files with the beta 6 client for
windows. it should work with future versions of napster as well due to
the search and destroy nature of the patch. as an added feature, this
patch also corrects a bug that has existed in napster since its beta 4
release. the bug prevents legitimately encoded mp3 files of a certain
frequency or bitrate from being added to your shared files list. during
personal testing some encoders produced valid files, while others such
as Fraunhofer's industry standard scheme failed. this patch requires a
certain amount of care after being applied to your napster client. if
a file has '.mp3' as its extension but does not contain a valid header,
it will crash the napster client when you attempt to share it. if you
feel that you don't want to take any chances, feel free to run the patch
  with the '/nofix' parameter.

to the programmers of napster : your software is good. you're missing one
very important feature. when searching for a song, process all results
from the server in the client like normal. however, before showing the
files available, filter the list with a customizable blacklist. The idea
is to avoid downloading music from those 'anti mp3-revolution' types out
  there who spread bogus songs.

if you find this patch useful, please pass it on to other napster users.
try wrapping it up ;) personal greets go out to Octavian, gE! and 1995.
